Luga Shu-suen (Kole) is a Kaleik exiled for being born blind.
Kaleiks are one of the lesser known races of Arunia.
Characteristics[]
According to Rin herself, they look almost exactly like humans, but with completely white eyes. They have naturally beautiful voices, causing a good amount of them to become bards.
It is said that that they can see through your soul, and can predict the future. However, Luga Shu-suen (Kole) says in Chapter 3 that Kaleiks do not actually have divining powers and often use old Kaleik legends to fool people.
It is shown numerous times that Kaleiks also have very strong hearing, demonstrated by almost every Kaleik you meet throughout the series. This may be a contributor to the extremely large amount of words in their language (According to Faelern, he says over ten million) and the integration of songs into general Daga-Ken culture.

They do not have a country to call their own and normally travel throughout Arunia.
Names[]
The Kaleik all have Sumerian names, but because most people can’t spell their names right, most Kaleiks also use a human name. The Daga-Ken are an exception; they want to keep their culture as pure as possible, so they only use their Kaleik names (ex: Ali-ellati, Puzur-Nirah). Luga Shu-suen (Kole's real name) is a Daga-Ken name, but he was nicknamed Kole by his master because Kole's master couldn’t spell his name.
Beliefs[]
While all Kaleiks have white eyes, they are no more often blind than any other race. In fact, many Kaleiks believe blind children to be cursed and banish them so they won't bring bad luck to their family and camp. Until their banishment, the blind child will be unprotected from the bullying that commonly occurs, and once the child is banished the parents may not search for them. The Daga-Ken are an exception to this, but their blind members still train exhaustively and must keep up with their tribe members in their mercenary culture.
